Should you require an emergency dentist in Ruislip, you should contact Victoria Road Dental Clinic immediately on 01895 636 121. Whenever possible, we will see emergency cases on the same day. To increase your chances of that happening, you should telephone us as early as possible in the morning.
However, we know that dental emergencies can arise at any time of the day or night, and don’t keep to regular schedules. The emergency out-of-hours number for our Ruislip dental practice is the same as above. If you call out of regular hours you will be given advice on what to do if you need to see a dentist straight away.
Why you might need an emergency dentist
Many things constitute a dental emergency. Below are some common examples, along with what your Ruislip dentist may do:
Toothache with our without swelling
Pain is the body’s indicator that something isn’t right, and dental pain can be unbearable. Initially, you may try over-the-counter painkillers, although you should still get to your dentist as soon as you can. When painkillers fail to work, you need an emergency dentist.
If toothache is caused by infection you may also have a swollen dental abscess, which may need antibiotic treatment. At our Ruislip practice we will never leave a patient in pain; you may need to come back for additional procedures to complete treatment, but getting you out of your discomfort will be our first priority.
Broken teeth
Teeth are often broken in accidents or injuries involving the head or face. Whilst severely broken teeth are an obvious dental emergency, even a small crack can allow bacteria to enter your tooth, which can lead to infection. Therefore, you should see a dentist for even minor damage.
Our Ruislip clinic offers a number of ways to restore broken teeth, including crowns, veneers, or white fillings.
Broken denture
Whatever you do, don’t try to fix your own denture with glue! This will usually make it very difficult if not impossible for your dentist to repair. Instead, keep the parts of your denture out of your mouth, and bring them to our Ruislip clinic.
