The advantages of Invisalign
Invisalign has a number of advantages over standard orthodontic treatment. One of the most noticeable is the fact that these aligners actually aren’t noticeable at all to the untrained eye in everyday life. Made out of clear plastic, the aligners fit comfortably over your teeth and guide them into an improved position.
Another big advantage of Invisalign is that the aligners are removable. You still need to wear them most of the time (approximately 22 hours per day to ensure treatment progresses as your dentist has planned) but you can pop them out for short periods to eat and drink, to clean, and to brush your teeth, meaning there are none of the dental hygiene issues associated with traditional braces.
Unlike some other cosmetic orthodontic treatments, Invisalign is able to correct a wide range of issues.
When you come into our Ruislip dental practice for a consultation with a cosmetic dentist, they will assess if this is the most suitable treatment for you. They will take impressions of your teeth so that your aligners can be made, and will be able to show you the expected results before your treatment begins.
Every patient’s needs are different, and your dentist will prescribe you the required number of aligners to complete your treatment. You change your aligner every fortnight as your teeth start to move, and will need to come into our Ruislip practice for periodic check-ups every four to six weeks, so that your dentist can make sure your treatment is progressing as planned. When treatment is complete, we will supply you with a discreet retainer.
